How does the Pulse QT Pro calculate the calorie count?

The micro processor of the Pulse QT PRO counts calories based on the information input by you (age and weight which is input when you set up the watch) and heart rate inputs during exercise while the chronograph function is running.

So the important thing here is if you put in your resting heart rate (HR) before exercising but do not put peak HR during exercise you will get a low calorie reading based on the low HR initially input over the time of the exercise.

On the other hand, if you put in two or three high HR during exercise and don’t put your recovered HR in post exercise, the calorie calculation post exercise will be calculated on the average HR input during the exercise time, which is controlled by the chronograph, and this will give a false high calorie reading.

To get it right – start the chronograph, input your HR several times during your exercise so the watch can give an accurate average HR during the exercise period. Then the Chronograph must be stopped at the end of your exercise to stop the calorie calculation at the high HR calculation.
